Horror Movies

Postby tweeed » Wed Jan 04, 2012 11:08 am

I just saw a trailer for The Devil Inside. Ill prob have to go check it out but alot of horror movies that come out in recent years are kinda stupid so i dont go see alot in theaters. Looks better than most of the 'exorcism' movies that have come out lately though.

Im typically more interested in suspense/slasher/serial killer movies. Also love just senseless gore and B-movie nonsense. My favorite horror movie is the John Carpenter Halloween. I guess because I saw it when i was a kid and it scared the shit out of me and still kinda creeps me out to this day.

you guise like horror movies?
recommend me some stuff to queue up in my netflix.

I like Horror movies. My favorite is The Shining because I am a big film dork.

Here are some movies that are on netflix instant: House, House 2, Parents, Dead Snow, The Blob (80s version), The Black Belly of the Tarantula, deathdream.

And if you frequent horror conventions and festivals try to catch Witches Brew.

whats the appeal of horror manga and not horror movies? just curious what your thoughts are. (srs) Id say Im into 'horror' as a genre across any type of media. I read a ton of comics/graphic novels/whatever but never really got into any japanese stuff. (in b4 "U RACIST BRO?") Anything youd recommend? Always down to broaden my horizons bro.

i'm no authority on horror manga, but i also prefer them to horror movies. manga is inherently creepy and weird to begin with, and the horror manga i've seen are pretty much next level bizarre.

I used to be pretty much the horror equivalent of an IMN, but I sort of got burnt out watching so many. My favourites were always the ones that were half super sparse, almost art house movies, but then occasionally dropped in some ridiculous OTT gore out of nowhere. Don't wanna sound too much like a horror nerd cliche but euros are best at this because they seemingly see no problem in completely changing the tone of the film at the drop of a hat so they end up pretty surreal. Probably the best/most well known example of something like that would be the Fulci stuff, like The Beyond? Some really classy suspenseful stuff in that movie, juxtaposed with that scene were the guy gets his face eaten by spiders for like, ten minutes.

I really liked all the Paranormal Activities so I'll probably see the Devil Inside, but I'm guessing it will be one of those movies that seem really good in previews and then are pretty bad when you actually see them.

I probably couldn't keep horror manga in my house, would always think its creeping up on me or something. Same thing with a ventriloquist dummy.

would you care to recommend some? Literally the only manga I read in my life was Uzumaki but I thought that was sick.
